When are the classes offered?
Classes will be once a week and will be LIVE online on Wednesdays at 9am or at 7pm. You are not required to attend both sessions. It is the same class repeated- so you have options!
Will I be certified?
No, at this time we are not offering certifications. We are more interested in helping you learn to do the job and protect your practice. We do provide a lovely course completion certificate and CE hours for most providers (contact us for more info on CE 817-755-0035).
What if I miss class?
You will have access to the recording. However, it is important to keep up on the class and homework so your coach meetings will be productive and so you can complete the program on time.
Will I finally have an understanding of HIPAA?
It is our goal to break HIPAA down into digestible pieces and to teach you and your Compliance Officer HOW to manage a successful HIPAA compliance program. HIPAA Compliance is not a one-time event. It is a series of behaviors and decisions you and your staff make everyday. This program will give you the guidance you need to do that successfully.
Can't I Just Hire a Consultant and Buy a Service?
We are consultants, and we get you want to hire someone once to come in and fix everything so you don't have to worry about it, and we may be hurting our own bottom line to tell you this...The truth is, a consultant can fix you up and get you HIPAA compliant, but as soon as they walk out the door, your compliance is at RISK! You see, whether you like it or not, the government expects you to keep up on this. HIPAA is one of those pesky compliance things that requires constant updating, training and monitoring....So, we are going with the "Teach and man to fish" philosophy, which in this case is "Teach a Dentist to comply." And frankly, when the OCR calls, none of your consultants or HIPAA compliant services will be answering the phone. It will be your staff and you. And if you give the wrong answers....you could be toast.
Do I have to hire a HIPAA Compliance Officer?
No, it can be an existing staff member, or the dentist owner of the practice. However, it must be an assigned role and the HIPAA Compliance Officer must have the time and resources and support of the powers that be to work in the role and do the job correctly.
Is this course appropriate for Corporate Compliance Officers?
Yes it is. Depending on the size of the organization it may be necessary to divide HIPAA Compliance activities into HIPAA Security Officer and HIPAA Privacy Officer roles. The focus of our training will be towards small Dental practices and groups. Additional coaching for larger groups can be purchased to address your specific needs.
How much time will this take?
Your staff member will attend LIVE online training once a week for an hour. Then they will work on the HIPAA Compliance Activities in your practice for about 2 hours a week! We commit to your practice 24 hours of training and one-on-one coaching over the course.
Your staff time commitment: approximately 48 hours over 12 weeks

Each week's practical homework will get your practice one step closer to HIPAA Compliance! HIPAA Compliance is not a one time activity or technology solution- it is a continuing process!
We believe in educating you to manage your own HIPAA Compliance Program. We can't be in your practice every day and the government expects you to police your own practice.
Our instructors will:
- Walk you through the process of completing appropriate policies (we provide the policy templates) for your practice,
- Show you how to complete a Risk Assessment (required annually),
- Teach you how to set up your staff training,
- Help you identify the forms for your staff, patients and Business Associates and vendors
- Show you how to work with Business Associates,
- Help you determine which technology you need to implement and
- Share with you the resources we have vetted that can be incorporated into your practice.
- Work with your practice one-on-one to make sure you are on track and your questions are answered
